How medical transport works
Medical Prescription
For medical transport, you need a medical prescription (Muster 4). Your doctor issues this when medical reasons require transportation. For serial treatments like dialysis, a standing prescription can be issued.
Health Insurance Billing
We bill all statutory health insurances directly. You don't need to worry about anything - just bring your prescription. For privately insured patients, we create an invoice for submission.
Co-payment
The statutory co-payment is 10% of travel costs, minimum €5 and maximum €10 per ride. Children and adolescents under 18 are exempt. Please bring your exemption card if applicable.
Companion
A companion can ride along free of charge if medically necessary and noted on the prescription. Please indicate this when booking.
Serial Rides (Dialysis)
For regular treatments like dialysis (3x weekly), radiation therapy or chemotherapy, we organize your entire ride series. A serial prescription from your doctor is sufficient - we take care of the rest.
Transport Types
We offer seated transport for mobile patients and transport with walking aids. We cannot carry wheelchair users. Please let us know your mobility level when booking.
FAQ
Medical Transport FAQ
What patients from Mettmann and the surrounding area ask most often.
For rides prescribed by a doctor, usually yes — for dialysis, radiotherapy or chemotherapy, for example. You need a prescription (form 4). We settle directly with the insurer.
By law, 10 percent of the fare, at least 5 and at most 10 euros per ride. Anyone exempt from co-payments pays nothing — simply show your exemption card.
Yes. We collect you at your front door and take you to reception if you wish. Stairs are no obstacle either, just let us know in advance.
For regular rides we try, and usually manage it. With dialysis in particular it makes a difference not having to explain everything again each time.
